DIVX...IT'S ALIVE...IT'S ALIVE...IT'S ALIVE!!!!

Our guest-blogger, Carlie Lawson, did this review sometime ago but but that we are posting seems the site is temporarily down. We apologise. Some real high quailty links on there though, so take a look when they are back online...

***

For those who worried DivX was dead, it’s RootForum1 (RootForum1.com) to the rescue. Although the site boasts low movie numbers, quality remains high, including stream quality.

The site
Since Rootforum1.com specializes in DivX To watch movies you need to install the DivX Web player. The site warns not all the movies offered play at great speeds, and since the site does not host these files it can't do anything about it. The site can not approach the speeds of Stage6, but unlike a plethora of sites it try to misrepresent what it can do. Even though the site's movie's are not always  the speediest, it's worth it. The site's suggestion is to let a movie buffer before playback. There are extremely high quality links that do provide some of the highest quality streams around.

Like any library, one sometimes experiences file 404 errors. If a video can not be found, the site offers a "Report Movie link" beneath the movie player. The bonus? It doesn't require one to sign in to do so. Our staff will try to fix the link for you or if needed delete the movie.

If one can't find the movie of their choice already listed, use the "request movies" thread on the site's movie forum Rootforum1.com. The forum does require registration. Simply post a topic in the "Request" category, and check back soon. Inevitably a kind link hunter will post it.

But the forum has a ban policy for not posting. If one registers to see movies, then doesn’t post any messages may result in a permanent ban. The site doesn't expect everyone to post movies; it only asks for a "thank-you" reply. The forums work on a reputation system. If site admins see one browsing  but not posting any messages multiple times they assign will assign negative reputation. If the reputation score reaches -10, the admin bans the member. This only applies to  the forums though, not to the main site.

The forums feature more threads than there's room to list, but those likely of greatest interest to readers are included. The area "Entertainment Discussions" hosts threads on "General Movie Talk," "General TV Talk," and "General Music Talk." The "Watch Movies" area includes threads on "2008 Movies," "Movies 2007-2006,"  "Movies 2005 and Older," "DivX Movies," "Messagefromme Movies," "Veoh Movies (Veoh TV required)," "Watch Kids Movies/Shows," "Cartoon series and TV Shows," and  the "Request" thread where one posts movies not yet linked to in the forums.

In the "Watch TV" area, there's "Comedy, Scifi, Reality," "Watch Gay and Lesbian themed Movies/TV Shows," "Watch Documentaries," "Biographies and Celebrities," "Crime, Drugs and Weapons," "Entertainment," "Sports and Arts,"  "Anime," "Season Links," "Movie Links," and "Episode links."

At Rootforum1.com one will also find "Sports" to watch, including threads for "Basketball/Baseball/Football," "Contact Sports," and "Wrestling." There are also threads for movies in the languages of "Deutsch," "Nederlands," and "Français."

What’s to watch?
There's plenty to watch at Rootforum. Out of the  "2008 Movies", one can see  "Wall-E" without having to go to the theater. Of course, links to the newest movies die quickly, but the forms' link hunters quickly replace them. Due to this, one needs to scroll down through the thread to  find replacement links. In "Movies 2007-2006" one may watch the "Bourne Identity." Popular choices in "Movies 2005 and Older" include "Bend It Like Beckham."

Stream quality
"National Treasure: Book of Secrets" provided a smooth stream that started immediately, but the download link was non-functional. It just led to the main messagefromme.com page. The stream boasted clear picture and sound though.

The stream quality for "The Ruins" was perfect. The link led to a full copy of the movie hosted by Vreel. The copy was amazingly clear with high quality with great sound and picture quality. There wasn't even one second of lag.

Conclusion
Rootforum1.com provides high quality links in an organized fashion. Although it requires one to join in order to watch, membership does have its privileges. Frustration over dead links is often temporary, since the site's link hunters keep things up-to-date. Rootforum1.com provides a dependable source for all genres of cinema.
